Hello, reader. Thanks for stopping by. Here you'll find pop culture oozing out of the page, funky finds, criticisms, funny vids/pics, and just whatever I want to entertain you with.
Don't ask questions. Just take what I give you. Trust me, you'll like it.
(No, this post isn't about Prince's song, it's about my tales of the graphic design world.)
Whilst sitting in my graphic design class the other day, my teacher, on the very first day of class, proceeded to tell us a little bit about the course we were in. He reads the syllabus, tells us his background and then he starts going into detail about things we need to look out for in the industry, such as plagiarism. He goes on to mention the story of how NBC paid a designer to redo their logo and he ended up donning one that looked exactly like the University of Nebraska's logo. Hmm...
I took this picture at the Missouri Botanical Garden last summer and just wanted to share it with you. Also, I'm entering it into a photo contest (prize is $1000), so tell me, do you think it's winner worthy? Enjoy!
Regarding the future Janis Joplin biopic that I've heard rumors about, they've all said Renee Zellweger will FOR SURE play the part. Well, I looked on her IMDB page and it doesn't even mention anything about Janis. Looks like Renee is in for another Bridget Jones installment. So I perused Google. Several sites listed Pink, Zooey Deschanel, Ellen Pompeo, Juliette Lewis, and Jennifer Tilly. What goes?
Is there really going to be a Janis movie? If so, can we please decide on someone who: A. looks the part, B. sings the part (atleast a little bit), and C. actually deserves to be Janis.
I mean, if they're seriously going to have Pink do it just because she kinda sorta sounds like her, then I think that's dumb. She doesn't look like Janis. Janis was rough. Pretty, but rough. Pink could be a supermodel, but she surely can't act(Remember Charlie's Angels II?). Renee could do it, I guess, but I don't think she could sing the role very well. And what's a good retelling of the story if you can't become the person, physically and mentally. I just can't imagine Renee getting up there on stage and feeling the music. She'd be squinting her eyes and lip synching. How awful. All I know is, whomever they choose, it better be a damn good one. Be spot on like they were with Joaquin in Walk the Line. Now that was good.
Who should play the part, you say? Oh I don't know. How about:
Amanda Overmyer. American Idol Top 10 Finalist. She sang a Janis song for her audition and cites her as an inspiration. Looks and sounds like the real deal.
**Note to Hollywood: Why not go with a relative unknown with all the qualities of Janis for the part? Hmm.....
Great quote from Janis:
"I don't believe in gate-crashing. The people aren't up there when I'm sweating on a stage at a festival, breaking my ass. You can get the money [to buy a concert ticket], man. Sell your old lady, sell your dope. Look at me, man, I'm selling my heart."
Come check it out!
